I recently sent image files to a client on DVD-R. The disk was made on a PC. The client is using a Mac.

He copied the files to his hard disk. When he opens a file from his hard drive and edits that file, he cannot seem to save or 'save as' because he says the system won't allow it. Not being a Mac user myself, I'm at a loss as to explaining to him how to change his file properties to allow changes. Even if the files remained 'read only' he should have no problems doing a 'save as', right? When I created the tif files, an IMB PC byte order was used.

I'm not sure if that is a factor in this problem. He has the same issue with the jpg files I provided where byte order is not a factor. Any advice from Mac users is appreciated.

Hi, I have a MAC OS X Client, which has Office 2016 installed. When trying to open Office files (Excel, Word) from the Sharepoint 2013 Enterprise Server Document Library, he will only open it 'Read-Only'. All attempts to 'save as' are also not possible. So I installed the MAC from scratch, installed Office 2016 and put the Mac in our Windows Domain: Now I could also edit documents in Excel /Word and save them. But all of a sudden after some time, Excel crashed and starting from there, I am only able to open Documents read-only again like in the beginning.

I have absolutely no clue anymore for what I should look to solve this problem. For information: In the Web Browser I have no problems to delete or edit files. Also logged into a Windows machine I am not running into any trouble with sharepoint or this user account. Any help is really appreciated. Office 2016 for Mac (v15.38); opening excel files (word/powerpoint fine) from a windows 2012R2 share came up with all of them as read-only (not the yellow band that someone is using and option to be read-only, just simply '(read-only)' in the green top of the window next to the file name); could create and edit a new file on the share, close it, then opened that just to get read-only again (and could have someone else editing a file but would get the standard read-only prompt); had other machines that opened excel files fine, so couldn't be a bug (i.e.

Other MacOS Office 2016 to windows share). Deleted /Library/Containers/com.microsoft.Excel (and /Library/Group Containers/UBF8T346G9.Office/MicrosoftRegistrationDB.reg) and rebooted (and if you're not up-to-date on Office, hit up the Help menu of any office app and check for updates); this was the fix for me (which would be sort of the same as your clean slate: hopefully this will be easier than clean slating again!).
